Overpower Complete Player Set! All Expansions And Promos Image/marvel/dc
MIKE’S OP STUFF IS DOING IT AGAIN!! Presenting: THE COLLECTION II AN ABSOLUTE COMPLETE COLLECTION OF REGULAR SIZED OVERPOWER CARDS FROM ALL EXPANSIONS AND PROMOS, except for one. BUT BEST OF ALL —— ALL CHARACTERS ARE PLAYER SETS!!! Which means for each Character, you get: ONE (1) – Of each Character Card {see 1} ONE (1) – Of each OPD, and THREE 3!!! – Of each Non-OPD That’s just nuts and really hard to do – again. I’m not sure why I’m even making another Player Set sale. It’s too hard and expensive. There are some sets, like X-MEN and especially IMAGE and Promo sets like Hillshire Farms that makes this a major pain. THREE of each Non-OPD! ? ! It’d be so much easier to make a COMPLETE SET of just one card each. But I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. And by getting THREE of each Non-OPD, I even have to get three super tough valuable cards like – STARJAMMERS: PROFESSOR X, OVERTKILL: ONE MAN ARMY, MALEBOLGIA: SIGNED IN BLOOD, and VELOCITY’S TWO!! HARD TO GET Non-OPD SPECIALS – especially, VELOCITY: SPEEDTHROUGH!!! And here you get THREE! ? ! I must be bonkers. The only thing missing are the six Holo Cards from the Batman Holo Series. It also doesn’t include the oversized placards, any non-official cards like the Classic Accidental Inserts or post, also non-official OverPower sets, like MARVELS, DC3, POWER BALANCE, or the 20th anniversary Mission Set. ALL Location Cards including ANY HOMEBASE: A-NEXT!!! ALL Power Cards including Images 5-Multi (Tiffany) and 8-AnyPower (Union), the Promo 5-AnyPower, and a few bothersome 8s from Batman/Superman and Monumental. ALL Universe Basic and Training Cards including Images 6AnyPower + 2 Power Blast, and a few trickier PowerSurge ones. ALL Ally Cards and the Promo Captain Universe. ALL Artifact Cards including MYRLU SYMBIOTE, THE INFINITY GAUNTLET, THE WITCHBLADE, M’KRANN FRAGMENT, and LINKSTONE. ALL Double Shot Cards, and ALL Mission and Event Cards including the Promo Any Mission: Hideout Discovered, JLA’s Any Mission: Sovereign Seven and Assault on Onslaught Missions and Events You’ll also be getting all error {3} and variant cards as listed on the Official List, plus both the miscut and correct cut of Spawn’s Finite Power Special, which isn’t considered as separate on that list. {4} All the cards will be put into six new numbered medium boxes. They’ll be placed in the same order as the Official List created by the awesome Gary Martin Jr twenty plus years ago. If you aren’t familiar with it, you can easily find it on the internet. AND HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THIS? YOU’LL BE GETTING A COMPLETE PLAYER SET OF IMAGE!!! That’s just INSANE!! Without a question, IMAGE is the most rare and valuable complete set in OverPower. It’s not even close. The Image set is a little more than half the value of this entire collection. {5} Meanwhile a Complete Set of some expansions don’t even go for that much. So, while I’m sure that most of you are looking at the price tag, this is really a bargain in it’s entirety {6}. So the total amount of cards comes to – 4482. It’s a lot of cards. It may be a couple over/under from that. Nevertheless, that is over 1800 cards more than just a COMPLETE SET of One Card Each {7}. But let’s be honest. Many, no Most, of these cards are less than that. It’s all the BIG GUNS in this fantastic collection that makes it worth it. And here you sometimes get multiple of those cards. I know, because that’s what I did. While there is no way of really knowing if it will ever happen again. If that ever does happen, all these older cards will instantly become extra valuable. But, as for now, nobody seems to be doing that. Thankfully, there is a group of hardcore fans and a small steady stream of new ones that keeps this game alive. The cards come in six medium sized card boxes. Characters and Specials have Red backed sleeves and all others have Orange backed sleeves. Error and variant cards have a Blue backed sleeve to help identify them easier. {8} Also, Adam Warlock has a unique distribution. You will get one each of the toyline cards (they’re in the pictures) and two each of the reprinted Monumental Non-OPD Specials and one of the Monumental OPD reprint so it qualifies as a Player Set, but also still making sure you get at least one of each card. Also, Adam Warlock toyline cards are maybe the most notorious for not being mint/near mint cards. They are taped down in the box and often end up with sticky residue and/or bends/creases just from trying to be removed. You can always message me if you have any other questions. For as much as I write, it still seems like I miss something. And, this will be the last time I list this. Afterwards, I’ll do something else. I HOPE A REAL OVERPOWER FAN GETS THIS. It’s a great game. Takes only minutes to learn and a lifetime to master. FOOTNOTES: {1} This includes Characters that use another Character’s Specials. For Example, you’ll find Beta Ray Bill with Thor, and both Doppelgangers with Spider-Man. 2 THE COLLECTION was also a Complete Player Set sale, but with different criteria on the Non-OPD cards. You might get two or three depending on what type of card it was. I was short by two cards for the whole lot. In this sale, there is no distinction for Non-OPD’s. You get three of each Non-OPD cards for each Character and I’m not short any. Also, besides Characters and Specials, THE COLLECTION also included all six Holo Cards, two Accidental Inserts, more than one of some types of cards, like Ally Cards, and every card was sleeved with the high value cards in hard protective sleeves. Unlike THE COLLECTION II which doesn’t have Holos or Inserts, just has one each of all other cards that aren’t Specials and only the high value cards are sleeved. {3} My take on errors. I absolutely agree with Gary’s list on error cards as he recorded them. I even remember the discussions many of us had about them on the old OverPower Legion forum 20+ years ago. So you’ll get those errors listed. You won’t get any “color” based errors. At least not intentionally. I don’t go out of my way to either include or not include them. Some collectors look for them and some sellers sell them. I maintain that an error based on lack of color/ too much color/ or related to color is actually a defect that may reduce the status of a card from near mint to something possibly less. Just like in comics. Anyway, I do look for damaged and played cards. I try really hard to remove those from all of my sales. But with super large sales like this, it’s not always possible to catch everything and some sets like PowerSurge are notorious for “flaking”. The cards you are getting are great cards. I believe most would list at near mint. Many of them are actually just recently pulled from packs. ESPECIALLY THE IMAGE CARDS!!! But, this is still a twenty plus year old game. You just can’t get away from wear from packaging, storage, and just time. {4} Spawn’s Finite “miscut” vs the “correct cut” Special. Here’s the exception from the official list. I had argued twenty years ago on the forums that both shouldn’t be on the official list and Gary was of like mind. And he was in charge. But now, and just recently mind you, I’ve changed my opinion. There is enough distinction between the two to warrant both of them to be considered as two distinct cards. The correct cut version being the more rare version. However, since no one is charged with maintaining that list now, that point is moot. But, regardless, in this sale you’ll get one of each. So here’s the “quick” story on this.. The giveaway promo “miscut” card was cut slightly larger than previous expansions. It appeared around Image’s release and it was something people noticed. Marvel (who had taken over from Fleer and started by producing this non-Marvel set) responded needlessly by recutting the exact card to match the previous expansions and hands then out at later tournaments. While they correct the cut they don’t correct the larger “error” in that it was always supposed to be an Any Character card. Not a Spawn Special. Then months later, (probably at the same time as they are now handing out the correct cut card) they release the X-MEN expansion and they DID IT AGAIN. Except this time, ALL the X-MEN cards were cut larger. That’s why nobody bothers to refer to them as miscut. There are no other cuts offered. One being THE COLLECTION which was a Player Set. And while that last collection sale didn’t qualify as complete, it was fairly close and was stacked with so many duplicates, triplicates and more of top key cards it more than made up for its few shortages. See, that’s the key. The COMPLETE part of this and those other sales. Everybody who collects OverPower has a lot of cards. I have over 50,000 myself. But are they actually different? Let me give you an example, currently there is a posting for an 8000+ card lot. It’s been there for awhile. At first, it sounds great, and it does show some nice sought after cards, but it’s clearly about maybe two thirds of a complete set, if that. There’s almost no Image at all and clearly many short in the other franchises. It didn’t include any other types of cards, but that was still a really great deal! Because that’s SUPER HARD TO DO. Prices of boxes have gone out of control. And I bet you’d still be short a card or two. If you have that – fantastic! I found eight of the ten Expansions offered as Complete sets for sale. BUT THAT WAS ONLY EIGHT. THAT DOESN’T INCLUDE THE OTHER TWO SETS THAT I DIDN’T FIND OR PROMO SETS. Some Promo sets you can find, but rarely all together. The reason, of course, why my asking price is a little higher is because this is a COMPLETE PLAYER SET. There are over 1800 more cards than just a standard set because of all of the triplicate Non-OPD Specials. So here’s the situation. Gary’s list comes to 2597 cards when you subtract the 39 placards. However, I’ve always disagreed with his final tally for the most obvious reason. When I finished my own personal collection using his list as my guide, about twenty years ago, and I placed them in binders, it came to the nice round number of 2600. It took 144 – 9 card pages, placing them back to back – so 18 cards per page + 8 extra. 144 x 18 = 2592. 2592 + 8 = 2600. Since I didn’t add any cards, like color error cards {3}, why Gary and I are off by three, I couldn’t tell you. And since just very recently, I added the Spawn: Finite miscut card (or correct cut depending on how you look at it), my new Total of an absolute complete official card collection is now 2601. THE COLLECTION II has 2595 of those cards. It just doesn’t include the six Holo Cards. That’s 99.77% of all official OverPower cards. It may be A VERY LONG TIME before you see a collection like this again for sale. {8} Just in case you weren’t aware, PowerSurge duplicated the Power and Universe cards from the Original set. There are a couple noticeable differences between the two sets. The Original set has a smooth card stock, while the PowerSurge set has a rougher one. Also the Universe Card borders are of different colors. The Original has a black border, while PowerSurge’s has a purplish one. And finally, the PowerSurge set has a slight halo around the numbers on their cards, while the Original doesn’t. The PowerSurge cards won’t be in blue protector sleeves. Those sleeves are for cards like the Hillshire Farms duplicate cards, and other error/variant cards so that you can distinguish between them more quickly. NOTE: I WON’T BE TAKING ANY SPECIAL ORDERS OR WISH LISTS AT THIS TIME. I SIMPLY DON’T HAVE THE TIME FOR THAT RIGHT NOW. Most everyone asks for the same cards anyway. I really wish I had all the Devourer of Worlds that everyone needs. And as I said earlier, this will be the last time I post this – for now. But don’t start contacting me for specific cards after it’s over. I’m not a professional grader. All my cards have been in storage in a smoke free environment and many, like most of the Image cards in this sale, were just recently pulled from packs. Any wear on my cards would be from either their original packaging, storage, or just time. I look for obvious damage, but not for things like missing color flakes which are very prevalent in many expansions. The cards you see will be the cards you get. After all, this game is twenty plus years old. I believe that most of my cards would grade around near mint. They also will be insured. There is no return available for this.
